Migration and Feeling at Home
Whether you have migrated with intention or out of necessity, a long time ago or just a few months ago, you probably know that it can be a challenging experience. In saying that, not all challenges are bad, especially those that in time will resource us for the better.
So what are the challenges of migration?
-
New seasons, cycles and foods.
-
New languages, processes, social norms and communication styles.
-
New opportunities and pressures.
In the face of all the 'new' and absence of anything or anyone familiar, our nervous system is likely to be on high alert.
We can find ourselves overthinking or shut down, emotionally reactive or disconnected, physically jumpy or delayed. Our digestive health may change to either over or under-active.
This change is innately disruptive and we are likely to be functioning in acute expressions of ourselves as opposed to living and expressing ourselves through balance and harmony.
Why is it worth exploring through transpersonal therapy?
Therapy in this area, like any, holds room for us to hear, validate and understand our experiences. Through conscious reflection, in a safe space and with guidance, we can consider what we need, physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually, to move toward a state of equilibrium and harmony within ourselves and our new environment.
