Trauma

What is Trauma?

Trauma is our immediate, extended, or spontaneous, often unconscious reaction to a distressing experience that we didn't have the chance to consciously process. It's important to understand that we don't usually avoid dealing with these experiences on purpose; rather, they might have been so intense that we didn't feel safe or didn't know how to handle them at the time or afterwards.

Over time, these unprocessed experiences get pushed aside within us. Certain parts of ourselves step in to suppress or distract us from the associated memories and feelings. These suppressing or distracting parts can manifest as anger, anxiety, dissociation, shame, hyper-vigilance or various other emotions, thoughts, behaviours, and even physical symptoms.

How I can help

To begin, before we can consider, accept, and implement any form of change or growth, it is crucial that we first feel heard, validated, and understood within ourselves.

My work centres on whole-person well-being. With compassion, curiosity, and courage, we gently and creatively explore your past and present experiences, allowing you to feel seen, heard, understood, and most importantly, safe.

This process fosters a sense of clarity and confidence, enabling you to finally tap into the unique resources you need to meet and move through your distinct challenges. Ultimately, this allows you to grow and flourish while maintaining balance and harmony in all aspects of your life. It's a gentle and fulfilling journey!
